DWC dominates at State Qualifier, sends historic 5 wrestlers to the State Finals!

HAVERLING - All across the state wrestling has been gradually gaining speed and beginning to burst at the seems with increasing interest and numbers. There's no difference to that statement in the rolling hills and lucious valley of Wayland, Cohocton, and Dansville. Over recent years DWC wrestling has shown massive growth in individual and team talent.

This season has been one for the record books. This is the first season for DWC Girls Wrestling, and man did they make a name for themselves going 6-2 as a team.

They would compete in the Section V Girls state qualifier as newcomers placing 11th out of 28. They would have 2 ladies have close losses in the blood round and 2 place. Hope Amarrell would battle to finals at 120lb and make history being one of the first girls in our area to qualify head to the Female State Tournament, Kayla Jordan would place 5th at 94lb.

The Boys would head to the Section V D2 State Qualifier and DWC would show up and show out placing 4th out of the 37 teams entered, as well as having 4, yes you heard that right 4, qualify for the State tournament later this week. Weston Mehlenbacher would take 2nd, Wyatt Sartori 1st, Garrett Mehlenbacher 2nd, and Peter Thompson 2nd. 4 State reps and not one senior.
