Brockport, NY – Tonight, the wrestling team honored six of their seniors prior to their matchup against Cortland State. The Golden Eagles fought hard to claim the close 23-22 win over the Red Dragons.
Trevor Middendort set the tone for the meet, walking away with a strong 4-1 decision at 125lbs.
At 157, senior Tyler Rossini earned points for the Golden Eagles by putting in the effort for a 4-2 decision.
Max Morrison showed out on the mat, pinning his opponent at 4:53 to earn the victory at 165.
Senior Gavin McLaughlin made his way through the 174lb division with grit to eventually earn the win by a pin at 4:30.
With a victory on the line, Mike Welsh did what he had to to earn the win by a pin at just 2:10 into his matchup.
Rocco Futia from Cortland earned an 11-2 major decision at 133 over Brockport's Kolton Kelley.
At 141, Jonathan Guyette fell to Culley Bellino of Cortland State.
Cortland's Angelo Centrone had a 22-6 tech fall win at 149 over senior Jaden Friel.
The Red Dragons Robert Cunningham finished the day with the 13-4 major decision over Brody Fry.
Senior Simon Lingle held his own and fought hard at 197, but came up just short to Nick Rose of Cortland, who claimed the 10-6 decision.
Brockport also held four exhibition matches prior to and following the meet.
At 197, Luca Friedman earned a 22-6 tech fall victory over his opponent.
Luke Chernaski of Cortland walked away with a win by pin over Jason Downer at 174.
Kevin Regan fell to Justin Klein of Cortland after a hard fight at 165.
David Ensminger from Cortland finished the day at 149 with a tech fall win over Spencer Maja.
