At Belmont, a trio of forfeits made the difference as an inexperienced Genesee Valley squad fell to Alfred-Almond, 39-27.

When the Jaguars played out a full match, they split eight decisions with Alfred-Almond, but an injury default victory for Brian Harrison over Max Evans and forfeit wins for Jason Fraser, Robert Comer and Chris Waite gave the Eagles the match.

"We had two brand new kids in our lineup this year that had never seen the mat before and that was (Corey Presutti) at 140 and (Caleb Swann at) 145," said Genesee Valley head coach Matt Hopkins. "We've lost a lot of experience over last years team and our inexperienced guys are doing a good job. We're just giving up too many forfeits."

Jeff Robbins, Dan McGillivray and Chris Green each won matches by pinfall for the Jaguars while Caleb Olcott took a narrow 5-4 decision over Andrew Davis.

"It was a good opening match for us. I'm pleased with our performance. It was a good match at 152 pounds for both Caleb and Andrew Davis. Another good match at 125 and 130 for Jeff and Dan."
