Bearcats ready to wrestle the nation's best at home

NEWS

The Binghamton University wrestling team will have a decidedly familiar look for the next several seasons. The program has re-stocked its roster with an abundance of youth, including a decidedly local flavor, under fourth-year head coach Matt Dernlan.

Of the 29 wrestlers listed on the current roster going into Sunday's Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open in the Events Center starting at 9 a.m., 25 of them are either in their freshman or sophomore year of eligibility. The core of the Bearcats program should remain intact for at least the next two seasons.

This weekend's Kaloust Bearcat Open will feature more than 500 wrestlers from many of the top programs in the country, including Cornell University, Lehigh University, Army, Navy, Rutgers, Hofstra and Pennsylvania.
