To say two-time defending All-Catholic Tournament champion St. Joe's is battled tested for the final portion of the wresting season might be a slight understatement.
The Monsignor Martin High School Athletic Association contender is ranked sixth in the area after squaring off against four of the top five-ranked large-school teams in Western New York - Clarence, Lockport, Lancaster and Grand Island. The Marauders also faced fifth-ranked small school Chautauqua Lake. They also earned a big win over rival Canisius last week.
They should be well-prepared heading into this Friday's big match against St. Francis and for what they hope is a big finish to the season with the All-Catholic and state Catholic tournaments on the horizon. The All-Catholic meet is Feb. 5 at Canisius, while St. Francis hosts states on Feb. 11-12.
