The Section VI wrestling season is officially over, but for a select group of local grapplers, the ride is just beginning.
Six of Niagara County's best won their weight classes Saturday at the Section VI state qualifying tournaments, earning a spot in the state tournament held Feb. 24-25 in Albany. Seven others finished as runners up and will have a chance to make states through wild cards bids.
In the day's most-anticipated and last match, Niagara-Wheatfield's Justin McDougald held off Lockport's Mitch Seaver in the 113-pound final in the Division I (large school) tournament at North Tonawanda.
