Williamsville North wrestlers Vinny and Michael Catanzaro both placed but came up short of qualifying for the state meet at the Section VI Division I State Qualifier Saturday at North Tonawanda High School.

Vinny Catanzaro, a junior, lost to Niagara-Wheatfield sophomore Warren Mc- Dougald, 6-4, in the 132-pound finals, while his younger brother, Michael, an eighth-grader, placed third at 106.

North assistant coach Paul Palizay said a request was put in for Vinny Catanzaro to move on to the state championships as a wild card, but the status of the request was unavailable before press time.
