Saturday was a historic day for wrestler Matt Genau.

The Williamsville South senior defeated Dontay Gill of Lockport, 10-5, to win the 120-pound crown at the Section VI Division I State Qualifier at North Tonawanda High School.

Genau also eclipsed Luke Falzone as the school's all-time wins leader with 174. Falzone, South's modified coach, had the record with 172.

Both accomplishments were goals Genau set six years ago as a seventh-grader.
