Bearcat Open Recap: Cornell Wins 5 Titles, Including Impressive Debuts for Diakomihalis, Dean and Russo

Over 300 wrestlers took the mat at the Jonathan Kaloust Bearcat Open on Sunday. Cornell came away with five championships, including three by wrestlers competing for the first time for the Big Red (Yianni Diakomihalis, Max Dean and Mike Russo), as well as another who hadn't been on the mat for the squad in a while (Jon Jay Chavez). In addition, All-American Brandon Womack was victorious.

Two Columbia wrestlers earned top honors - Garrett Ryan at heavyweight and Markus Scheidel (back with the Lions second semester) at 157.

Host Binghamton saw 10 wrestlers place, with three finalists - Anthony DePrez, Louie DePrez and Connor Calkins.
