Eight Section V wrestlers advanced to the Division I semifinals of the state wrestling tournament at the Times Union Center in Albany on Friday, including two in the same weight class.

Section V's Frankie Gissendanner (Penfield) and Troy Ferris (Brockport) are set to meet in the semifinals in the 145-pound division. Gissendanner, a three-time state champion, won by tech fall and a fall, while Ferris won both of his matches by decision.
