Niagara County has some of the best wrestlers in New York State, as evidenced by the results of this weekend's New York State Public High School Athletic Association tournament in Albany.
Niagara Falls sophomore Willie McDougald and Starpoint senior Anthony Robinson won championships in their respective weight classes, and three other locals earned top-3 finishes.
McDougald, who bears a last name that needs no introduction to those on the state wrestling circuit, entered as the second-seed at 132 pounds in Division I (large schools) after winning the Section VI title. He opened with a tech. fall victory, then earned 5-2 and 9-6 decisions over the No. 7 and 3 seeds to reach the final.
