Lancaster wrestling places three at state meet

NEWS

A wildly-successful Lancaster wrestling season came to an end last weekend at the NYSPHSAA Championship Meet. The team had four guys compete, three of whom placed.

Senior 220-pounder Joe Andreessen did the best of all, placing third in his weight class. He was close to victory in his semifinal match, but was beaten at the last second. However, he came back to win his consolation match.

"He lost a really close match in the semifinals," Lancaster coach Ron Lorenz said. "He got reversed with seven seconds left to lose. It was a pretty tough match. He was obviously very upset. He wrestled back very hard and won 3-2 in a consolation to take third place."
