Grand Island wrestler barred from sectionals gets second chance at state tourney

Senior Adam Daghastani will get to compete for Grand Island one more time, as the New York State Public High School Athletic Association granted the 170-pound wrestler a wild card into the state tournament.

The association unveiled the wild cards Wednesday for the Feb. 28-29 championships at Times Union Center in Albany. Daghastani, the state's second-ranked wrestler in his weight class, was among those on the list of additions to the tournament, Vikings coach Craig Hoplight said.
