It was a three-up and three-down roller coaster Saturday night for Section 4 athletes who competed on the biggest stage high school wrestling can offer in New York.
Three duos from Tioga, Norwich and Chenango Forks had at it in state finals and each came away with 1-1 records, the champions in high spirits and runners-up wondering what could have been at the NYSPHSAA Championships.
All matches involving Section 4 competitors at a packed Times Union Center in Albany were decided by four points or fewer, two went to overtime and when it was over, Norwich senior Dante Geislinger, Tioga eighth-grader Gianni Silvestri and Forks junior Lucas Scott came away with titles.
