Brockport State Wrestling Goes 1-1 at Saturday's Home Tri-Match

Brockport, NY - On Saturday the SUNY Brockport wrestling team hosted Lycoming College and Niagara County Community College for a tri-match. Brockport fell to Lycoming, 22-9, before bouncing back with a dominant, 46-6, win over NCCC.

Splitting the day at 1-1, the Golden Eagles are now 7-6 on the season in duals.

Brockport 9, Lycoming 22

In the first match of the day, the visiting Warriors from Lycoming got the better of the Green and Gold. However, Brockport had three winners in their respective weight classes.

At 149, Elijah Sims took care of business with a 3-0 decision victory over Lycoming's Kobin Karper.

Matthew Kline also got the decision win, 8-4, against Preston Rogers in the 165lb weight division.

Earning a 5-1 decision at 197, Michael Sullivan continues his strong season with the victory over Gable Crebs.

Brockport 46, NCCC 6

After falling in the first matchup, the Golden Eagles dominated the Thunder Wolves from Niagara County Community College to close out the day.

Liam Bullock picked up the win by fall, 4:57 into the match against Joshua Gill in the 125 weight class.

At 141, Marquis Larmond also won by fall over Lennox Walker, just 2:40 into the match.

In the 149lb weight division, Francis Whitehouse pulled out the decision victory over Nikalis Voelker, 9-2.

Finishing off a great day at the office, Matthew Kline earned the Major Decision, 14-1, at 165 for the Golden Eagles.

Jared Zenie got the 7-5 decision victory at 174, in a tough battle with NCCC's Simon Lingle.

Nick Franco stepped up to compete at 285, pinning his opponent Trevon Matthews in 2:25 to close out the win for Brockport.

Isaiah Jackson (133), Gavin McLaughlin (184), and Michael Sullivan (197) all had their hands raised for victories by way of a forfeit from NCCC.

The Golden Eagles now prepare for the NCAA Mid-East Regionals on Friday, February 24th. It will be hosted by Ithaca College and is set to begin at 11am.
