FREDONIA — Portville Central School’s Jake Zeigler qualified for the state wrestling championships after placing second in his weight class at the Section 6 Division II Championships on Saturday.
Zeigler went 4-1 at 170 pounds, winning both a third-place consolation final and a true second-place match. He pinned Gowanda’s Maddox Hudson in 1:56 to clinch his second-place finish.
Also for Portville, Josh Kriger went 4-2 and finished third at 215, losing a second-place match to Pioneer’s Takota Smith. Mekhi Muhyee (131) finished fourth 4th, also going 4-2. Henry Chamberlain (215) and Ian Chamberlain (285) were both eighth and Chase Caldwell (101) 12th.
