The Technical High wrestlers will start a hard week of training
to-day, in preparation for the annual Scholastic tournament, which
will take place on Thursday and Friday of this week at Madison
Junior High.
The showing of the Tech team this year makes it a strong contender
for the team championship. The team was represented fairly well last
year, three of the team winning their events. Sommers won his match
in the 118-pound class, Bradbury won the 125-pound event and Pete
Bartholomeo won the individual championships in both the 160-pound
class and the heavyweight class. The men the Tech team is figuring
on winning their events this year are, Schwartz, in the 105-pound
class, Sommers, in the 118-pound class, Bradbury, in the 125-pound
class, and Bartholomeo in both the 160-pound class and the
heavyweight class. Haight will try to get down to weight for the
135-pound class. Tony DeGarde will enter the 125-pound class.
Another meet with East High will be necessary to decide the city
scholastic championship regardless of the outcome of the individual
tournament. This meet will be held some time next week.
