ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Three each from East and West and
two from Tech won in the individual interscholastic wrestling finals last night
at Madison Junior High. Competition in the tourney was keen which can be readily
seen when only one of the matches was decided by a fall. Six of the eight
classes were won on decisions after wrestling the time limit.
The men in the finals seemed to be all evenly matched and all made a great fight
for the gold medals which will be awarded the winners in the various events.
Vallone, of West and Mooney, of Charlotte, met in the 105-pound class to start
the finals of the tournament. The men wrestled on even terms for the greater
share of the time but after 8 minutes and 42 seconds the West High man clamped a
body hold on the Charlotte grappler to win the class medal. In the 112-pound
class Shapiro, of East and Newcomb, of Tech met in another nip-and-tuck affair.
Both wrestlers showed some clever wrestling, the judge's awarding Shapiro the
decision by a close margin.
Chaffrey Loses Match.
Benz, another East High man, then took the mat against Chaffrey of Tech, who,
although he lost, put up a game battle. Chaffrey won over the East High grappler
in the meets earlier in the season but the Oriental man staged a comeback.
Bradbury won the first championship for Tech when he earned a judge's decision
over Davidson, of East. The Tech High entrant closed a glorious career as a
member of the Joseph avenue team. In his four years of wrestling Bradbury has
never lost a match, winning 29 consecutive matches.
Krank, of West and Feary, of Tech, then put on the hardest fought match of the
evening in the 135-pound class. After 9 minutes of wrestling the judge's were
unable to make a decision and the two wrestled two extra six-minute periods. The
points were evenly distributed throughout the match but the more experienced man
from West High proved the most aggressive near the finish and piled up enough
points to win. The next match also went fifteen minutes before the winner was
chosen. Miller, Kodak star put up a fine battle against the West High and it was
only the experience of the latter that enabled him to emerge as the winner.
Kress Comes Through.
Johnny Kress then won the second match of the evening for Tech when he obtained
the decision over
Okuniewicz, of East. The Tech man was not at his best but
there was no doubt about his superiority over the East High man. Sam Krepeck, a
dark horse, who has not wrestled all season but who won the individual honors in
the heavyweight class last year, displayed his wares at the expense of Felli, of
West High, taking the decision after 9 minutes.
Goldstein and Wolf, who both weigh in the neighborhood of 200 pounds, put on a
real heavyweight classic. After fifteen minutes of fast and furious wrestling
the judge's were unable to render a decision so the match was pronounced a draw.
