ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Tech High and West High divided honors in the Interscholastic individual Mat
Tournament, which was concluded yesterday afternoon at Monroe Junior High. Both
schools had three winners while East High and Monroe took the other two matches.
Kodak and Charlotte failed to show a winner although both were represented in
the finals yesterday. Gold medals will be given to the victors in each division
while the men who earned their way to the finals will be given silver medals for
second place.
A large crowd was on hand to witness the finals of the tournament which
concluded the most successful season since the sport was introduced here five
years ago. Four of the matches resulted in judge's decisions while two were by
falls and the other two by default.
"Shorty" Robinson, who was forced to wrestle four times to work himself into the
finals, won a decision over Joe Vallone of West High, in the 105-pound class.
Robinson was ahead on points after the nine minutes were up. Ebner, another Tech
High man scored the first fall of the afternoon when he succeeded in pinning
Carl Brucker's shoulders to the mat after 6 minutes 35 seconds.
Sol Shapiro was the only other East High wrestler to come through with a win.
Newcomb, of Tech, was Shapiro's opponent in the 118-pound class, and after
wrestling even with the East High star for six minutes, an accidental fall to
the mat injured his neck and he was unable to continue. The match was awarded to
Shapiro by default. Magro was the first West High man to score a victory. He
pinned Jardine, of Kodak, after 4 minutes and 12 seconds.
Feary By Default.
Feary, who was furnished plenty of opposition in the preliminary and
semi-finals, had things easy in the 135-pound class yesterday. The Tech High
representative was awarded the match by default as his scheduled opponent,
Holloway, of Charlotte, was not in the best physical condition and was given
orders by his doctor not to wrestle.
Jimmy Lapi, of East, and Stelljes, of West, met in one of the closest matches of
the afternoon. After nine minutes of fast wrestling the judge's decided in favor
of the West High man although the points were nearly even. Seibert, of Tech,
lost another close match in the 160-pound class to Felli, of West, by decision.
Another decision verdict was rendered in the final bout of the day when
Williams, of Monroe, won from Hooker, of West, after nine minutes. The wrestlers
both weighed over 175 pounds.
