ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

The annual
interscholastic wrestling tournament which begins this afternoon will
bring to a close the high school mat season. Preliminaries and
semi-finals are scheduled today and tomorrow at 3:15 at Tech High. The
finals will take place next Thursday evening at Monroe.
This will mark the first year that the affair will be run under
intercollegiate rules. Formerly A.A.U. regulations were used. The main
difference is that the bouts are won on time advantage instead of
points. The new system was tried out in the interschlastic league this
season and proved successful.
Tech, East, West, and Monroe who comprised the loop will enter full
teams. Several Charlotte entries are also expected. Weight classes in
the meet will be 105, 105 to 112, 112 to 118, 118 to 126, 126 to 135,
135 to 147, 147 to 160, and 160 to 175. There will be no unlimited
division. Referees for the matches will be Fred Weismiller of the
Y.M.C.A. and Ellington, Mechanics Institute coach.
The undefeated Oriental trio--Mitrano, 147-pounder, Lapi, 160-pound
class, and Millard, 175-pound division, are favored to cop their events.
The shop school squad is expected to win in the lighter bouts. Spronza,
star Tech man, should have little difficulty in taking the 135-pound
title; Robinson has showed up best in the 105-pound class, and Bell has
disposed of all opposition in the 118-pound group.
Standardo, Shop man, and Dentico, Oriental, top the list in the
112-pound division. They have beaten each other once. "Red" Kelly of
Charlotte, and Brooks, West, are expected to go far in the 126-pound
bouts.
Coach Hoff's Tech team, champions of the Interscholastic League and
winners of seven of nine classes last year, will be hard-pressed for
individual honors by Coach McKay's East grapplers. Both teams appear to
have at least three events apiece cinched.
