Archives

E-mail corrections or additions to info@armdrag.com.

ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Tech High School's Interscholastic League champions ran off with major honors in the annual city scholastic tournament last night at the Tech gymnasium with victories in five of the nine title bouts. East High came next with three winners. Jimmy Gala gained the remaining crown for West in the 126-135 pound class.

Major upsets in four of the contests featured the matches. "Chuck" Dentico of East High lost a time decision to Edwward Aratari of Tech, whom he had thrown twice this year, in the 105-112 pound division. Frank Urbanik, another Shopman, edged-out Joe Caccamise, Oriental, in the 112-118 class. Caccamise win in their loop encounter. Ralph Serafine, East Sider, came back to easily beat Ross Brooks of West, to whom he had lost time advantages twice before, in the 118-126.

Shapiro Repeats

Frank Reddy, Shopman, spilled some more dope when he copped a one-second margin over Lexford Anderson, his two-time conqueror this year in the 147-160 pound group. In the most bitterly fought tussle of the evening Gala crashed through for an extra period triumph over Frank Spronza, who lost out in the finals of the 126-135 last year also.

Morris Shapiro, Oriental, and only defending champ, defeated Anthony Bell, Techman, in the 105. Older brother Jerry DePrez, Shopman, trounced Gene DePrez, West Sider, in the 160-175. Victor Hall of Tech won over his teammate, Eli Elias, in the unlimited. There were no falls.
