Grunt and Groan
Graduation of several veterans, loss of Phil Brundage and Phil Paquin, and the
exodus of Cecil Whitmore after three meets spelled defeat for the Saxon
grapplers. What glory remained fell to Dick Thomas, Captain, and Aristy Argyros.
Argyros,
clever 118-pounder, won four matches on falls, and came close to record time in
pinning two opponents. Thomas won three of his matches, but a rib injury late in
the St. Lawrence meet benched him for the rest of the season.
Ken Tracey, Al Dyer, and Vince Weidman were first year varsiteers and showed up
well. Operating under insurmountable handicaps, Coach Joseph Seidlin spent most
of his time building for future years. (Kanakadea,
