E-mail corrections or additions to info@armdrag.com.

ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

1939-40 Alfred Saxons Wrestling Team

NOT IN ORDER: David Neil, Hollis Saunders, Dudley Russell, Maurice Ruhlem, Leon Guilford, Melvin Miles, Edwin Van Houton, Peter Keenan, Moe Cohen, Mearl Greene, Paul Miller, Royce Luce, Reginald Miner, Richard Stockman, Haik Kavookjian, William Hurley, Arthur Powell, Donald Faulkner (manager). (SOURCE: Kanakadea, Alfred University, 1940.)

With the withdrawal of Dr. Seidlin as wrestling coach, Alex Yunevich was chosen his successor. The only men remaining from last year's squad were Lee Guilford and Floyd Olivia, the remainder of the team being composed of men with high school experience only. A new set-up, that of having an A and a B squad, was tried out this year. The more experienced would meet the inter-collegiate competition while the B squad would wrestle teams representing various Y.M.C.A. teams of Western New York. Losing but one man by graduation, the wrestling team next year should be a winner, since the squads of this year's opponents were composed mostly of seniors. In the final tabulation, Minor was high point man with a total of 14 points, whil Luce was a close second with thirteen. Luce, Minor, and Greene represented Alfred at the Tri-State Invitation meet at Cleveland. (Kanakadea, 1940)
