ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

1955-56 Warsaw Tigers

Coach: Mr. Jean M. Davis

1955-56 Warsaw Tigers Wrestling Team
FRONT ROW: R. Ess, H. Lee, L. McGill, N. Burns, R. Lung, Ronald Nourse. MIDDLE ROW: R. Simpson, D. York, L. Farr, K. Hinz. BACK ROW: James Sierk, Ronald Ellis, J. Snyder. (SOURCE: Blast, vol. VII, Warsaw Central School, 1956.)

The wrestling season last year was a good one for Warsaw and was climaxed by two boys, Ronald Ellis, Unlimited, and Ronald Nourse in the 103 pound class ending up as county champion in their respective weight class.

In the five (5) competition, Ron Ellis was beaten in the finals and Ron Nourse went on to take the section (5) championship in the 103 pound Division beating a boy from Springport.

There were many new boys out for the squad and they will be filling in the team this year along with veteran wrestlers such as Ellis, Nourse, Hollister, Merill, and Sierk. (The Blast, 1956)

NOTE: This text, written in 1956, refers to "last year" meaning the 1955  wrestling season. Also, according to the D&C, Ron Nourse didn't win Sectionals in 1955, rather he lost in overtime to Spencerport's (not Springport's) Dave Spaziano. Nourse did, however, go on to win Sectionals in 1956 along with James Sierk and Ken Carpenter.
