ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

State School for the Blind flew new honors today - two sectional wrestling championships - the first ever earned by the school.

Kingpins wearing the Section 5 shield of the New York Public High School Athletic Assn. are Edward Harrington of Dansville and Kenneth Cross of Dunkirk. They achieved the highest possible schoolboy honors in sectional competition at Brockport State Teachers College.

Harrington, winner of the 95-pound class for Class B-C and D schools, has partial sight. This is his first year on the team and he won nine matches and lost four during the season.

Cross is a totally blind 154-pound grappler who is a third year man on the team. He had a mark of 18 wins in 14 events during the season. Both went into the sectional finals after winning Genesee-Orleans county championship and eliminating opponents in the semi-finals.

Wrestling Coach Dan Birecree said both earned second places in the Eastern Athletic Assn of Schools for the Blind meet in Connecticut earlier this year. Harrington pinned William McCann of Hammondsport Central in 3:22 to win his title while Cross decisioned Jack Bell of Bolivar Central, 7-0.

Other area champions are: Class A schools, Dave Fugle of Attica Central, 112 pound class; Don Tavermier of Letchworth, 127 pound class; Jim Kennedy, Perry, 133 pound class; Ronald Carmichael, Letchworth, 154 pound class; Al Beck, Attica, 165 pound class; Manfred Wolcott, Attica, 106 pounds.

Also in Class B-C-D, Paul Glor of Alexander won the 103 pound title; Donald Nourse of Warsaw triumphed in the 127 pound division; David Townsend of Alexander won the 133 pound unit; Lee Ganigen of Alexander took the 146 pound title and James Sierk of Warsaw gained the 175-pound class toga.
