ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

A large turnout greeted Coach Mielnicki's call for wrestlers early in November. The team was quickly whittled down, however, by lots of calisthenics and hard work.

Forming the backbone of the team were returning lettermen Fordie Paige, John Bachers, county champ Bernie Wittman, county and sectional champ Gene Dini, and veterans Roy Peck and Doug Drake. Ronnie Marchesi, a freshman surprise, has the best record on the team, and two other first year men, Bert Galipeau and Ricky Contryman, have been looking fine. The other first year varsity men show promise and are improving as they gain experience.

Spencerport is a charter member of a new league this year, the Central Western Conference League. The new league has some tough competition, but the Rangers hope to come out near the top.

JV Rangers

The S.C.S. matmen won their first meet of the year over Batavia by a score of 36 to 11, and extended the team's winning streak to 27 straight over a four year period. The next meet found the winning streak stopped at 27 straight, as the Rangers dropped one to Letchworth, 29-19. Since then, the Spencerport grapplers have won over Waterloo 28-16, lost to Geneva 31-19, won over Penn Yan 35-22, over Medina 34-10, lost again to Letchworth 27-13, and won over Brockport 42-10. The Rangers have outscored their opponents so far 226 to 156 for an average meet score of 28 to 20. (Panorama, 1958)
