Archives

E-mail corrections or additions to info@armdrag.com.

ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Coach: Mr. Joseph Baier

Record: 7 Wins, 8 Losses

1960-61 Rush-Henrietta Comets Wrestling Team

REFEREE'S POSITION: Dave Saunders (top), Gunnar Klinga (bottom). FRONT ROW: Mike Damon, Bill Rife, Pete Serafine, Steve James, Coach Baier. BACK ROW: Sid Huff (Manager), Mike Traino, Chuck Skibinsky, Dick Viola, Jerry Ferrari, Dick Naven, John Corroza, Bob Pirello (Manager). (SOURCE: The Cometeer, Rush-Henrietta Central School, 1961.)

The R-H wrestlers, under coaching of Mr. Joseph Baier, had the material for a very good season. Lack of boys in the light and unlimited division put the boys down by 10 to 15 points before the match had begun. The team lost several matches merely because they were forced to forfeit certain weight divisions. The most outstanding record was posted by Pete Serafine, who won 12 matches and losing only 2. Bill Rife and Carl Miner also had fine records of 9-5 and 7-2, respectively. The team's only placing in the Monroe County tournament was by Jerry Traino, who took third place.
