ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

NEWARK ― A record
32 candidates has turned out for the Newark Central School wrestling
team which opens the season at Waterloo on Wednesday.
The sport is in its fifth year here with Nick Neuhard, coach since the
sport was added to the school schedule, hopeful of a successful season.
Eleven of the candidates are freshman.
Neuhard said the frosh are the products of the junior high school
intramural wrestling program conducted by coach Floyd Greene. Another
hopeful note is the presence of 12 holdovers from last year's squad who
will form the nucleus of this year's team.
Newark defeated Phelps Central in the opening match last year and tied
Union Springs for a 1-7-1 record.
Coach Neuhard disclosed that for the first time a junior varsity squad
will be formed to perform the preliminary matches when the varsity
engages in evening matches.
Dave Gifford, who wrestles in the 127-pound division, will be the team
captain. He is a 4-year veteran ― first in school history.
The NCS mat mentor will rely on his second and third year men to carry
the squad through a tentative schedule of the 10 meets. The Reds engaged
Webster Central in a controlled workout last Wednesday with Coach
Neuhard pleased over the results.
