ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Rush-Henrietta wrestlers won three individual championships in the Section 5 Class A-B wrestling tournament last night at Fairport.

Rush-Henrietta also won the team championship in the Class A division while Victor and Caledonia-Mumford tied for the team championships in the B division.

R-H's Warren Stumpf, 141-pound class, Jim Weisenflu, 170-pounds, and Dave Hept, heavyweight, earned the right to represent Section 5 in the New York State scholastic tournament, March 10-11, at the Onondaga County War Memorial in Syracuse.

Stumpf, 16-0 this year, is one of three Section 5 champions to return to the state meet.

Al Velieri of Spencerport, 148, and Dwight Cartwright of Keshequa, 177, also defended their championships and will return to the state meet. Cartwright is now 21-0 in dual matches and Vellieri is 19-0. Cartwright, who won 20 straight matches by pins last season en route to third place at the state tournament, recorded the fastest pin of the finals, 1:48, over Warsaw's Jeff Bush.

Spencerport, Irondequoit and East Rochester each had two winners. Velieri and Steve Silver, 115 pounds, were Spencerport's winners; Dan Duffy, 135-pounds and Keith Cotroneo, 129, were winners from ER and Rory Whipple, 158, and Jim Borshoff, 122, of Irondequoit won final round matches.

Ray Joseph of Eastridge won the unlimited match with a pin in 3:09 over Tom Brown of Trumansburg.

Andy Tipson of Geneseo was the only sophomore to earn a spot on the Section 5 wrestling team. He won the 101-pound match by a 10-3 decision over Dave Snyder of Haverling High. Lipson is now 22-0 in dual meets this year.
