ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Joe Kuras and Guy Parker of Canandaigua knew their assignment; to not get pinned.

And both Kuras (177) and Parker (215) did as they were told, helping the Braves to a 25-23 win over East Rochester Jan. 10 in a clash of state-ranked Section Five powers.

As a capacity crowd at ER gym looked on, fourth-ranked Canandaigua built up a lead over the 14th ranked Bombers that even victories by ER's John Zito and Rich Sidor couldn't make up for.

With the Brav'es ahead, 25-15, going into the 177 bout, the highly-regarded Zito tried everything he could to pin Kuras, but had to settle for a 20-1 five-pointer. At 215, Sidor battled to a 9-4 decision over Parker, also failing to obtain a much-needed pin.

Canandaigua won only five matches enroute to nipping Don Quinn's Bombers, but three of those wins were by pin while a fourth was by a superior decision.

"I told (Parker) not to get pinned or give up any five-point moves," said a jubilant Canandaigua coach Weldon Canough later. "He didn't. East Rochester is tough - I wouldn't want to wrestle them again."

"I was pleased with the kids tonight," said Quinn. "I wasn't pleased with them when they lost to Brighton. We won seven matches, which makes me happy. I didn't think we'd be that close to 'em."
