ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

BERGEN - Letchworth's wrestling team was impressive last season, going 13-2
and winning the Livingston Conference Division I title.
But coach Chad Wittenrich had just one senior in the lineup on Saturday in the
19-team Byron-Bergen Wrestling Tournament.
"We have a very young team," Wittenrich said. "I didn't know what to expect."
What he got was a dominating performance from his young squad, which finished
with 171 points in winning the tournament by 40 points.
West Seneca West finsihed second at 131.
Host Byron-Bergen was seventh at 28.
The lone senior for Letchworth was Joe Hendrickson, who had impreccable timing
in winning the 145-pound title.
He won a 12-1 major decision over Darcy VanDerwerken of Dansville in the finals
for his 100th career victory.
"That was a nice milestone for him," Wittenrich said.
The other win for Letchworth came at 96 pounds, where eight-grader Frank Day
pinned North Rose-Wolcott's Cody Lockley in 1:34. Day was a part-time starter
last year and will be a key component to the squad this year.
Letchworth also got an unexpected runner-up finish at 112 pounds, where
eight-grader Bucky Hendrickson won his first three matches before losing in the
finals to Greg Shove of North Rose-Wolcott.
"He had an extraordinary day," Wittenrich said.
Mike Nevinger of Letchworth lost 2-1 to Jarred Lemkey of Alden in the finals at
119.
Third-place finishes for the Indians came from Weston Weaver at 125, Matt
Hendrickson at 171 and Camden Barber at 215, while Allen Fagan was fourth at
160.
Steve McInally of Byron-Bergen and Harred Lemke of Alden shared Most Outstanding
Wrestler honors for the 96- to 140-pound weight classes.
McInally went 4-0 on the day. He pinned Elijah Hayes of North Rose-Wolcott in
2:26 in the first round, then won a 15-0 technical fall over Jerry Pilkenton of
Dansville in the quarters. He won a 19-6 major decision over Brandon Marlatt of
Jasper-Troupsburg in the semis before getting a 16-14 overtime decision over
Pavilion's Mike Hackett in the finals.
Lemke had pins in his quarterfinal and semifinal matches before edging Nevinger
in the finals.
Nate Scheidel of Caledonia-Mumford was the Most Outstanding Wrestler for the
145-275 weight classes. Scheidel pinned all four of his opponents, taking less
time in each successive match. He started off with a pin in 5:56 over Todd
Kostrycki of West Seneca West in the first round, then took 1:09 to pin Steven
Benedict of Fillmore in the quarters, 1:02 to pin Chris Waite of Genesee Valley
in the semis, and just 57 seconds to pin Churchville-Chili's Bill Breon in the
finals.
mike McInally of Byron-Bergen won the 125-pound weight class with a 4-1 decision
over North Rose-Wolcott's Mike Tellier in the finals. Andrew Sapienza was second
at 152.
