ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Brighton High School sophomore Zack Ellis earned runner-up honors (103-pound
weight class) in the New York State Division I Wrestling Championship in
Uniondale, Long Island, on Feb. 25.
During the quarterfinals, Ellis defeated Jared Messina (Cheektowaga Section 6)
with a convincing 7-3 decision. This was the second meeting of the year between
the two wrestlers with Messina winning the first match 8-7, giving Ellis extra
incentive to revenge the close loss.
In the semifinals, Ellis out pointed Vinny Cocozello (Curtis - Section 8) 5-2,
but the match was not quite as close as the final score. Ellis had Cocozello in
a near fall cradle position and unexpectedly was called for an illegal scissor
head lock, resulting in zero back points for Ellis and one penalty point to his
opponent. Nonetheless, Ellis maintained a 5-2 lead and controlled Cocozella the
rest of the match, to get to the Division I championship final.
Ellis wrestled Junior Jeremy Cuomo (Schalmont Section 2) in the final and was
defeated 9-2. Ellis conceded, "Cuomo was a strong wrestler who earned the win
and I congratulate him. "
Zack Ellis finished the year with a 36-8 overall record and surprised more than
a few critics by wrestling his way to the NYSPHSAA Division I State championship
finals. Being a sophomore, Ellis who follows his personal creed of "never give
up and always have confidence in your self " has two more years to fulfill his
goal of winning the states.
