ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.  We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and articles as well.  Many college and public libraries have microform copies of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years.  In them, you can find lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time, make a trip to the library and check it out.  Ask a librarian how to get started and how to print out the articles that you find.

For the second successive year since 1928 Monroe organized a wrestling team and entered the Interscholastic League. Although handicapped by inexperienced material, Coach Jones succeeded in forming a very formidable team before the end of the season as was shown in their final decisive victory over Charlotte. (Monrolog, 1930. Wrestling, p. 83.)

ALUMNI NOTES

He is also a member of the varsity wrestling team. (Monrolog, 1930. Alumni Notes, p. 95.)

Tech High School added another title to its long list of Interscholastic Wrestling League championships by defeating Monroe High this afternoon at Monroe, 22 to 8. Yesterday's victory closed the loop for the season for Coach Hobart Hoff's matmen and gained the ninth interscholastic circuit crown for the Shopmen since the sport was introduced in Rochester high schools by B.R. Jones in 1921. East High, which administered Tech's lone defeat this season, is the only other school besides the Shop institution to have copped the league title.

ARMDRAG NOTE:  Does anyone have any additional info on B.R. Jones, the founder of high school wrestling in Rochester and possibly New York State? Here's an article co-authored by him while at the Rochester Shop School in 1923.
