ArmDrag.com is looking for volunteers to help populate the Archives.
We're not only looking for results, but tournament brackets, photos, and
articles as well. Many college and public libraries have microform copies
of complete newspapers dating back over 100 years. In them, you can find
lots of wrestling results. If you enjoy doing research, and you have some time,
make a trip to the library and check it out. Ask a librarian how to get
started and how to print out the articles that you find.

Under the supervision of Mr. Joseph Savino and his assistant, Mr. Ignatius
Scott, wrestling entered its second year. Last year marked the beginning of
wrestling in P.Y.A. as an intramural activity, however, it was reorganized in
1955 as a major sport along with football, baseball, and track.
The purpose of the organization is the building of strong and healthy bodies
through rigorous training and sound living. To win a Varsity letter a wrestler
had to participate in two-thirds or more of the matches.
The team started the season green except for three men but boasted a membership
of twelve. Penn Yan met Watkins Glen on the home mat as the starter and traveled
to Hammondsport for the second contest. They were defeated 30-28 and 30-18 but
not without strong aggression by each member of the team. The boys learned that
experience and training pay high dividends. (The Key, 1955)
